Use the right measure.

Use watts and actual operating time for a steady load. For a cycling compressor, adjust active time. For a refrigerator, use annual label kWh; for a dryer, use cycle kWh.

Check the model specification or a suitable energy meter. Use your applicable per-kWh price, including variable delivery charges, to estimate the extra operating cost.
