What a state average can tell you
Average price is reported electricity revenue divided by reported sales. Different utilities, customer usage, seasons, and charges contribute to that average. It is useful for a broad comparison, but it does not tell you what any individual household will pay.
We compare the same calendar month across years to make the seasonal context clearer. This is not an annual average or a forecast.
Why might your bill look different?
Your tariff may include a fixed monthly fee, separate supply and delivery charges, time-of-use rates, taxes, or tiered prices. A state figure cannot recreate those terms.
The latest available observation in this saved snapshot is July 2026. EIA releases data with a reporting lag and may revise prior figures.
